The season of Lent is a time for thoughtful, prayerful reflection for every Christian. It is a deeply personal walk in which some choose to abstain from foods, actions, or even bad habits. This year at Martin Luther King Jr. Christian Church we will be participating in the Daniel Fast. During this fast participants strictly eat natural fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains. All meats, dairy, sugars and processed food are not allowed, and the only beverage allowed is water.

This year’s Lent season will last from Wednesday, March 2nd to Thursday, April 14th. This plan is merely a suggestion, so feel free to modify the parameters of the weekly rules if necessary. As always, do what’s best for you. Consult with your doctor if necessary.
“Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.
